If you thought for a second that UFC matchmaker Joe Silva was taking a vacation this week with no planned card over the weekend, you were mistaken.
UFC officials continued their whirlwind day of match announcements by placing bantamweights Erik Perez and Johnny Bedford on the April UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen event.
Perez (13-4) has won eight straight fights, including three in a row since joining the UFC. He owns a submission victory over John Albert, a knockout of Ken Stone and a TKO over Bryon Bloodworth – all of which took place last year.
Bedford (19-9-1) had just one fight in 2012, but he made it count, finishing Marcos Vinicius in December for his second straight KO finish. He also stopped Louis Gaudinot in December 2011, a year after submitting Frank Gomez.
