Michael Bisping’s lack of respect for his opponents his legendary. Whether he’s trading verbal jabs or going as far to spit at cornerman, the Brit doesn’t lack confidence.
In less than two months, he takes on fellow middleweight Alan Belcher, who will look to beat respect out of him.
“He’s pulled some stunts inside and outside the Octagon that have made people not like him and not respect him,” said Belcher to Fighers.com. “I’m going to beat him, and I’m going to try to hurt him.”
Belcher has gone far enough to say he will get a tattoo of the British flag on his chest if Bisping wins. It’s a gutsy challenge, considering Bisping predicts a first round stoppage.
“He said he would bet anything that he was going to take me out in the first round – which is not going to happen,” said Belcher.
When the two enter the Octagon, Belcher does so coming off a loss but had no ill words about that exchange with Yushin Okami. The defeat ended his four fight win streak, where he finished each opposition within two rounds.
“I got a wake-up call in my last fight,” said Belcher. “No excuses, I just got beat. I just have to be a little bit sharper mentally.”
Bisping comes into the fight after losing to Vitor Belfort, in which he would have become the No.1 contender to the middleweight title had the ending been reversed.
As for the future, Belcher wouldn’t mind a shot at Anderson Silva or Jon Jones, but is only focused on taking care of Bisping.
