Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz has never shied away from a fight. After talk that his recent suspension might be reduced, his manager and trainer, Cesar Gracie, made it known the fighter would accept a bout with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva if the promotion wished to put it together.
So, when talk of a Georges St-Pierre vs. Silva fight comes up, Diaz doesn’t fully understand why GSP wouldn’t just take it. The two 170 pounders will finally meet later this month at UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz.
“If I were in his place, I would do more,” Diaz said. “I would be asking for the Anderson Silva fight. I wouldn’t let that blow away. That’s crazy.”
Diaz will finally get his chance years in the making to square off with St-Pierre in Canada. The two were scheduled to face off previously, but Diaz no-showed several press events and was removed.
