Former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin was looking forward to stepping in the Octagon late in 2012 and battling Phil Davis. However, a tear of his MCL and an ACL strain left Griffin sidelined, and will do so likely until late this year.
“Dr said my knee is doing great I’ll be able to go in 6-7 months,” Griffin posted on Twitter recently. “We must have different definitions of the word great.”
Griffin (19-7) had surgery in December, posting a picture of his knee at the time. He defeated Tito Ortiz in his last bout, improving to 10-5 with the promotion.
