Takanori Gomi left this past weekend’s UFC on FUEL TV 8 with a loss and apparently a broken hand. “The Fireball Kid” posted a photo of his broken right hand on his blog and said that it occurred in the opening round. Check out the photo by clicking here.
Diego Sanchez defeated Gomi via split-decision in their contest, but with plenty of controversy. It appeared to most in attendance that Gomi had the fight clearly won. UFC president Dana White, who has been critical of judges, was blown away that Sanchez was awarded the fight.
The loss drops Gomi to 4-3 inside the Octagon and snapped his two fight win streak. It was Sanchez’s first win since 2011, after spending most of last year out of action with a lingering hand injury.
Gomi didn’t provide information for how long the broken hand will keep him on the injured reserve.
