After the way Wanderlei Silva and Brian Stann started their main event fight Saturday night at UFC on FUEL TV: Silva vs. Stann, you knew there was no way it was going five rounds.
Silva landed a right-left combination as the second round came to a close, finishing Stann and earning his 11th victory inside the Saitama Super Arena.
“I am so proud,” Silva said. “This is for my brothers in Japan; I am proud to fight in front of you.”
Silva has experienced plenty of ups and downs since joining the UFC, but he became one of the legends of the sport fighting for PRIDE in Japan. “The Axe Murderer” is a former PRIDE champion and now has a 23-6 record fighting in the country.
“I am so happy, so blessed,” Silva said.
This was Silva’s (35-12-1) first fight in Japan since 2006.
