Revelina Berto isn’t the first in her family to be an active competitor. That goes to multi-time NAGA champion and former EliteXC lightweight James Berto. Coming from a family with combat sport history, Revelina has been feeling the pressure to succeed since a young age.
“I’m just so blessed to have a family that’s good at every different part of MMA,” said Revelina to MMA Weekly. “I have brothers that can help me out with boxing, wrestling and all-around MMA.”
Revelina takes the next step in her career when she returns to MMA for the first time in four years for Championship Fighting Alliance (CFA) later today, March 2. She is part of a three round tournament to crown the first ever CFA women’s champion.
Out of Real Fighting Championships, Revelina went 3-0 with two finishes. She’s remained active during her hiatus from the sport and noted that she planned to return on several occasions, but her opponents kept dropping out of the fight.
That won’t be the case with Peggy Morgan, who after two finishes in her amateur career last year made her professional debut with a decision win over Kaline Medeiros in the summer months.
The tournament kicks off at CFA 10 with the winner also getting $20,000 to match the belt. Just the opening rounds will take place on this card.
The event comes from the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, FL and can be seen live on UStream. The main event features former UFC and Strikeforce fighters James McSweeney and Dion Staring.
