Dede Pederneiras currently coaches two UFC titleholders in featherweight Jose Aldo and interim bantamweight champion Renan Barão. He thinks that his welterweight student Hernani Perpetuo could be the next big star for the UFC.
“He’s a guy who beat a lot of good people in Brazil [and] is the current Shooto champion,” said Pederneiras to TATAME. “I believe he is the flavor of the month for what he’s proved and won.”
Perpetuo likes to stand and trade punches, which leaves the fans excited according to Pederneiras. With that kind of fighting style Pederneiras believes he’s exactly what the UFC is looking for in a fighter.
He is currently 15-3 and is coming off a win against Andre Santos in January for Web Fight Combat. 10 of his fights he ended and seven of those came in the opening round.
