With around 20 UFC releases already taken place and word that another 100 releases are on the way, fighters are walking on eggshells. Brad Tavares is worried that he could be given his pink slip because his upcoming opponent, Riki Fukuda, doesn’t deliver fights that are entertaining.
“With everything going on with these cuts, I hope Riki says, ‘Forget it, I want to put on an exciting show,’” said Tavares to Bloody Elbow. “If he wants to wall and stall or lay and pray, I’m going to work my hardest to stop that and keep it on the feet.”
Tavares is 4-1 for the UFC, but only once has he finished a fight. UFC president Dana White has made it clear that boring fighters don’t have a spot on his roster anymore. Fukuda is at 2-2 with all decisions since joining the UFC in 2011.
The preliminary card is headlined by Tavares vs. Fukuda. It will be streamed live via Facebook and comes from Japan’s Saitama Super Arena on March 3.
