Derrick Lewis is a different person once he enters a fight. Competition brings that killer instinct out in him, but once the fight ends he goes back to being a family man with his fiancé and two kids.
“I really try to kill my opponents, even though I know I can’t do it because the ref is there,” said Lewis to MMA Junkie. “But that’s my intention every time.”
With that energy, Lewis will look to defend his Legacy FC heavyweight championship tomorrow, March 1. He takes on Ricky Shivers in the main event.
Lewis has four straight wins since late 2011, two of which came out of Legacy FC. He has used his fist to stop each of those fights. Shivers took one win in his only fight last year and will be making his Legacy FC debut. His last defeat came to recent Bellator standout Emanuel Newton in August 2011.
Legacy FC 18 comes from the Arena Theatre in Houston, TX and airs live on AXS TV.
