Bellator has introduced a new app that makes the fans a fourth judge, though their input will not affect the outcome of the fights.
The app will provide real-time fight data as users can track a fighter’s statics and participate in the on-air broadcast. A total of 26 categories from arm strikes to submission attempts will be sent to users of the app as the action happens live.
During fights, opinions from users of the app will be revealed and can be compared to that of the actual judges.
“The Bellator app is truly the first of its kind,” said Jon Slusser, senior vice president of sports and multi-platform events for Spike TV. “It allows our passionate fans to experience the fight as a virtual fourth judge.”
The app features historical statistics for every fighter, pre-fight fan picks and favorite fight polls which will be sharable via social networks. The Bellator MMA app also gives fans the opportunity to watch exclusive videos.
It’s available for iPad, iPhone and iTouch users effective today, February 28, with an Android version coming soon.
