Attila Vegh Plans To Take The Light Heavyweight Title Within Two Rounds At Bellator 91

As Attila Vegh prepares for the biggest fight of his career, he plans to do something that few have done and finish Christian M’Pumbu. If Vegh can accomplish that, he will leave as the new Bellator light heavyweight champion.

“Honestly, I don’t see this fight getting to the third round,” said Vegh to MMA Junkie. “I feel confident that I will be able to take him out in the first or second round. I know I can beat Christian by knockout or submission, but the clearest path to victory for me is to just knock him out.”

Vegh has shown that he is capable of ending fights. During the Summer Series, he submitted Zelg Galešic in one minute and knocked out Travis Wiuff in 25 seconds in the finals. Wiuff is the only person to hand M’Pumbu defeat since he joined Bellator.

M’Pumbu took three straight TKO wins to become the first light heavyweight champion for the promotion. He has been inactive since October 2011 when Wiuff took a decision in a non-title fight. Of his four career losses, he has been submitted once and never knocked out.

Vegh vs. M’Pumbu headlines today’s Bellator 91 from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, NM. Spike TV airs the main card with a start time of 10 p.m. ET.
