Before fighting, Amanda Lucas spent 10 years as a teacher and dancer. When she told her father George Lucas, who created the Star Wars franchise, that she was trading that part of her life for combat sports it came as shock.
“I was kind of a fat kid growing up,” said Amanda to Sports Illustrated. “I hated P.E. I didn’t do sports. They were kind of traumatizing for me, which was another reason I was drawn to fighting.”
Since Amana debuted in MMA in 2008, she has gone 5-1. Her only loss came in her first fight. Since joining DEEP two years ago, she has four wins with three stoppages. She currently holds the promotion’s openweight championship and last competed in December with a decision over professional wrestler and MMA fighter Yuiga Yuiga.
Amanda’s father has seen all but one of her fights. Due to his fame, he watches her via an online stream as his presence at an event would take the spotlight off his daughter.
After securing that December win, Amanda’s return hasn’t been announced.
