As Championship Fighting Alliance (CFA) prepares for their second anniversary, they have decided to host an eight women’s 145 pound tournament with the opening round taking place this Saturday.
CFA promoter Jorge De La Noval decided to introduce a women’s championship after watching competitor Kelsey De Santis train. The winner of the tournament will leave with $20,000 to match the title.
“A lot of these girls are on top of the game,” said Noval to MMA Weekly. “Some of great wrestlers, great boxers, great with jiu-jitsu; it’s a really mixed bag and we’re really excited to bring something different to the show.”
The tournament is as follows: Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Tori Adams, Peggy Morgan vs. Revelina Berto, Fallon Fox vs. Ericka Newsome and Kelsey De Santis vs. Allanna Jones.
CFA 10 is on March 2 from the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, FL. It can be seen live via UStream. The main event features former UFC and Strikeforce fighters James McSweeney and Dion Staring.
