After getting released last week, Jacob Volkmann has signed a multi-fight contract with the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). Al Abdel Aziz, WSOF executive vice president and matchmaker, confirmed the report with MMA Fighting late Tuesday.
The lightweight is expected to debut on their third event in June. No exact date or venue has been announced.
Volkmann went 6-4 since he debuted for the UFC in 2009. After going 0-2 as welterweight, he cut down to lightweight. He took five decision wins, before suffering two submission losses. The most recent loss was to Strikeforce’s Bobby Green at UFC 156 earlier in the month.
The WSOF returns with their second show on March 23 from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J.
