Jens Pulver is riding a wave of confidence as he prepares to return to ONE FC.
“I will flat out say if I get into that cage feeling the way I have been feeling throughout this camp there is nothing less than my hand being raised,” said Pulver on MMA Mania. “After all that I have been through it amazes me that I once again found the confidence of knowing that I will win this fight.”
The former UFC lightweight champion will be taking part in the bantamweight grand prix semifinals against Masakatsu Ueda.
Pulver is 1-1 for ONE FC and has competed for them only as featherweight. After he won the UFC lightweight title almost 12 years ago, he made two successful defenses with decisions over veteran Dennis Hallman and former champion B.J. Penn. He left after a contract dispute and was stripped of the title. Pulver returned to the UFC, going 0-2 with Penn getting revenge with a second round submission on The Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale.
Masakatsu Ueda was 2-1 last year. That one defeat was in his Bellator debut, when he lost in the opening round of their Season 6 bantamweight tournament. In his only ONE FC appearance in October, he left with a decision victory to China’s Min Jung Song.
The two meet at ONE FC: Kings and Champions on April 5 from the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The other tournament fight sees Thanh Vu vs. Kevin Belingon.
