Tito Ortiz Details Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos’ Future

After Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos was granted her UFC release, she didn’t remain a free agent for long. Invicta FC signed her quickly to a three fight deal according to her manager, UFC hall of famer Tito Ortiz.

Ortiz plans for Santos to challenge for Invicta FC’s featherweight title in her second outing and defend it once. After that, Ortiz thinks the UFC will be ready to put on a superfight against Ronda Rousey.

“After she defends it once, let’s get New Year’s Eve, Ronda Rousey vs. Cris ‘Cyborg’ at 140 pounds,” said Ortiz during UFC 157 weekend. “Let’s forget about the title. Throw away the title. Let’s get one of the biggest pay-per-views in the history of mixed martial arts and history of women’s MMA.”

Santos takes on Ediane Gomes in her return fight at Invicta FC 5 after a year away from competition due to a suspension for steroids. The winner takes on Marloes Coenen for the title.

Rousey is coming off her seventh professional career win by first round armbar at UFC 157. It was the first WMMA fight under the UFC’s name.

Since Rousey won the Strikeforce featherweight title, which was later promoted to the UFC ranks, she has been in a war of words with Santos. A fight between the two never happened as Santos wasn’t willing to drop down to bantamweight.

Santos’ return at Invicta FC 5 is on April 5 from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansass City, MO. Streaming information has not been disclosed.
