The UFC middleweight division is full of names, but Tom Watson has one fighter in mind that staopennds out among the rest in Brian Stann. While the two are teammates, Watson is willing to put that aside if offered the fight.
“If you went back a few years, I’d probably pick Wanderlei [Silva],” said Watson on MMA Junkie Radio. “Nowadays, there’s so many guys in my division that would fight like that. Right now, I’d probably take Brian Stann.”
Watson was also open to the two training together at Jackson-Winkeljohn’s MMA if the UFC was to ever make that fight official.
If the UFC was to give the green light on such a fight, it wouldn’t be in the near future.
Stann meets Watson’s original pick for a dream fight in Silva. Stann vs. Silva are the main event of UFC on FUEL TV on March 3 from the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
On the last UFC on FUEL TV card, earlier in the month, Watson defeated Stanislav Nedkov in the second round. He took home an extra $100,000 for Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night honors. The win made the Brit even in his UFC career at 1-1.
