“Tank Abbott Basically Built The Sport” Says KOTC Founder

Tank Abbott’s name is associated with the early days of MMA for his brawl like style. After a nearly four year absence, he returns for KOTC in April.

“Tank Abbott basically built the sport of MMA and brought it into the mainstream when he started fighting in the mid-90s,” said Terry Trebilcock, KOTC owner. “There is no true MMA fan in the world who doesn’t know who Tank Abbott is.”

Abbott has had a total of 24 fights, with several coming out of the early UFC days against top heavyweights such as Dan Severn, Pedro Rizzo and Frank Mir. None of his fights have made it to round two and Abbott has only 10 wins to his name.

It was 2009 when Abbott last saw competition, as he defeated Mike Bourke.

In his MMA return, Abbott takes on the 20-25 Ruben Villareal, who has competed out of the KOTC off and on since 2004.

They headline KOTC on April 13 from the Country Casino & Hotel in Oroville, CA.
