Mike Richman might have knocked Mitch Jackson out in the quarterfinals of the Season 8 featherweight tournament, but that hasn’t ended the trash talking.
“It was mostly just his training partners, his coach, saying, ‘Oh, Mike Richman is a bum,” said Richman to Sherdog Radio. “He fights bums. He has a padded record. He’s being coddled.’ I’ve always wanted to fight him.”
In round one of their Bellator fight, Richman connected with multiple shots before a kick to the head and a few hammer fists ended this rivalry. Richman went on that this win was extra sweet due to the dislike between the pair.
Richman is 3-1 for Bellator, dropping one in the semifinals of the previous tournament. None of his Bellator fights have gone past round one and the recent win over Jackson lasted the longest with three seconds left on the clock in the opening round.
The loss was Jackson’s Bellator debut. It also ended his seven fight win streak that he started in 2010.
At Bellator 92, Richman takes on Alexandre Bezerra in the semifinals. That is on March 7 from the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, CA.
