Brendan Schaub is usually active on social media, but during the week of his UFC 157 fight he needed to take a step away as there was too much negativity in the air about the near 20 UFC releases.
“I live, breath and eat to be a UFC fighter,” said Schaub on MMA Fighting. “I’m going to retire in the UFC hall of fame. For me, this is life and death. I vibe off that pressure and every fight I think is my last. The pressure is no different, just the negativity surrounding Twitter and Facebook.”
To close out the preliminary card, Schaub took a decision against fellow heavyweight Lavar Johnson.
The win snapped Schaub’s two fight losing streak. Before that he had four straight wins since losing in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter to Roy Nelson.
Johnson is now 2-2, with the other loss coming in the first round to Stefan Struve via submission.
UFC 157 took place this past Saturday from the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. It was the UFC’s return to that arena since holding the first UFC on FOX show in November 2011.
