As Bellator marked the halfway point of Season 8 this past Thursday, CEO Bjorn Rebney was stoked about how the show played out to an almost sellout crowd.
“I dream about the fights when I’m sitting next to someone at the desk, right against the cage, and they try to say things and you can’t hear them,” said Rebney to Sherdog. “That’s what you want to see in a live event experience.”
Of the nine fights, six made the live TV broadcast due to quick stoppages. Just two fights went to a decision and the rest were ended by the fighters. Five fights didn’t go past the opening round.
The lightweight heavyweight and welterweight semifinals were decided on the show. The main event saw the Season 7 featherweight tournament conclude as Shahbulat Shamhalaev landed a second round knockout over Rad Martinez.
Bellator 90 aired on Spike TV and drew 737,000 viewers.
