Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal Responds To Bellator 90 Knockout Loss

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has no hard feelings after being knockout last night by Emanuel Newton at Bellator 90. After the fight, Lawal took to Twitter to congratulate Newton.

After trading offense in the center of the cage, Newton was able to land a spinning back fist during a scuffle that knocked out the former Strikeforce champion. The win allows Newton to advance to the finals of the Season 8 light heavyweight tournament.

It marked Lawal’s first defeat since returning from a suspension and leg infection in the middle of January. Lawal has never been knocked before as his other loss was by TKO when he dropped the Strikeforce gold to Rafael Cavalcante.

As Lawal fell to the canvas, in an unconscious state, Newton was still relentless. He attempted to lock Lawal in a choke, but the referee stepped in before the submission could be fully applied.

Lawal is considered one of the biggest names in Bellator and the loss is being called a major upset.
