Emanuel Newton’s Spinning Back Fist That Led To Bellator Finals, Video Included

Emanuel Newton was the underdog against Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. The betting world had Lawal as a 12-1 favorite, yet Newton left with his hand raised to the surprise of many after securing a knockout halfway in round one.

“I happened to throw an awkward spinning back fist,” said Newton to The MMA Report. “Muscle memory kicked in and it landed.”

By winning, Newton moves into the finals of the Season 8 light heavyweight tournament. He takes on Mikhail Zayats at Bellator 95, which closes out the season, on April 4 from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.

Lawal was considered a favorite in the tournament after signing with Bellator when Strikeforce released their former light heavyweight champion. His return is not known.

Below is a video of the knockout.
