With one punch, Douglas Lima finds himself meeting teammate Ben Saunders once again. Their original encounter was in November 2011 and saw Lima take a second round knockout win. For the rematch, Lima is expecting a totally different fighter.
“I’m not going to study the last fight,” said Lima on The MMA Report. “He’s definitely changed and got a lot better. He’s a tough opponent and good person. If we gotta do it again, we’re going to do it.”
Lima earned a second round knockout over Bryan Baker and Saunders finished Raul Amaya in the first round at yesterday’s Bellator 90.
Since that first fight, Saunders has gone 3-1 and Lima the same. Lima’s defeat was against current welterweight champion Ben Askren.
The last time Lima vs. Saunders happened was in the finals of the Season 5 welterweight tournament. They meet once again in the finals, just in Season 8 this time around. The fight has no date, but is expected to take place before the current season ends in early April.
