Clay Guida is a different fighter and UFC president Dana White doesn’t like what he sees. The former lightweight title contender has been judged in his last two fights for a technique that involves more footwork than anything.
“The problem with Clay Guida lately is Clay Guida has completely changed his style,” said White on 95.5 KLOS. “The style that made him popular and exciting, what everybody liked, why everybody liked Clay Guida—now he does the exact opposite.”
After six years as lightweight, Guida made the cut to featherweight. Before that, he racked up five Fight of the Night and two Submission of the Night honors. After two straight lightweight losses, Guida took a split-decision against Hatsu Hioki in his featherweight debut.
He is expected to return at UFC on FOX opposite Chad Mendes. That will be April 20 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
