Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is one of the biggest known names for Bellator after a stay in Strikeforce. Even though people might not recognize names out of Bellator, it doesn’t take anything away from the caliber of the fighter, according to Lawal.
“Just because a guy doesn’t have a big name, that doesn’t mean he’s not tough,” said Lawal to MMA Junkie. “Before Fedor [Emelianenko] and [Anderson] Silva were known, they were kicking some a–. Then they kicked the right a– and got a break.”
Out of Strikeforce, Lawal was 3-1 and also has a no contest after testing positive for steroids. He was later released after making derogatory comments about a female in the athletic commission.
Lawal defeated Przemyslaw Mysiala in the openings of the Season 8 light heavyweight tournament. He now meets Emanuel Newton at Bellator 90.
Bellator 90 is set for the Maverik Center, today, in Salt Lake City, UT. The main card can be seen on Spike TV at 10 p.m. ET.
