UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva could be returning to the Octagon this July, according to a report by the Brazilian news site Tatame. The report stated that Silva would meet Chris Weidman on July 6.
It would appear that there have been initial talks between the UFC, Silva’s team and Weidman’s management regarding the two meeting in Las Vegas.
“We have had some conversations, but still there’s nothing official,” said Dave Martin, who represents Weidman. “We are negotiating, though nothing is confirmed.”
Weidman has been pushing for a match with Silva since defeating Mark Munoz last year. “The Spider” defeated Chael Sonnen and Stephan Bonnar last year.
