Ulysses Gomez was released from the UFC according to a recent report. When Gomez saw the post online, it was the first he had heard of the release.
“Sorry guys no idea on my status with the UFC yet,” Gomez posted on Twitter. “I haven’t talked to my manager, so maybe they told him before the report came out. I’ll keep everyone posted on the situation and thanks so much for the support. Either way, I will be back.”
A total of 16 fighters were released by UFC officials, including the likes of Jon Fitch, Vladimir Matyushenko and Che Mills.
Gomez (9-4) lost both of his UFC bouts, falling to John Moraga last year and Phil Harris earlier this month. The 29-year-old was the first Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champion.
