As Ronda Rousey prepares to take part in the first ever FMMA fight in the UFC’s nearly 20 year history, she’s been all over the media doing promotional work.
During a recent conference call, the name Cat Zingano was mentioned and Rousey said she has an eye on her. Zingano took that as a major accomplishment coming from the first female to hold UFC gold.
“Being on her radar and her being on my radar makes a good fight,” said Zingano on Verbal Submission. “I never said that I was hunting for Ronda, just that I was hunting for the winner of the belt.”
While Rousey holds the UFC bantamweight championship, Zingano is in possession of several Ring of Fire titles. She last competed in October, where she debuted for Invicta FC with a second round submission over Raquel Pennington.
Zingano makes her first Octagon appearance on The Ultimate Fighter Finale opposite Miesha Tate, who Rousey defeated in Strikeforce to become a champion. That happens April 13 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.
Before that, Rousey attempts her first title defense since being promoted to the UFC ranks when she meets Liz Carmouche this Saturday, February 23. They are the main event of UFC 157 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.
