Marcos Galvão’s Friendship With Eduardo Dantas Broken After Bellator Knockout

When teammates and good friends fight it can change everything. That might be the case with Marcos Galvão and Eduardo Dantas after their recent championship fight.

Dantas retained his bantamweight championship with a second round knockout over Galvão at Bellator 89. The loss has Galvão questioning the strength of his friendship and wishes the fight never took place.

“Never be the same,” said Galvão to TATAME. “How can I be friends with a guy who is my opponent who knocked me out? This situation was to be avoided.”

After two attempts, Galvão won the Bellator tournament and the right to challenge the champion. Galvão had four wins out of Bellator before he lost a quick one to Tyson Nam for Shooto in a charity show in August. The title was not on the line.

Bellator 89 took place on February 14 from Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, NC. Spike TV aired the championship fight alongside the remainder of the main card.
