Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos is officially done with the UFC, for now, and shifts focus to Invicta FC. Besides a potential meeting with champion Ronda Rousey, Santos didn’t have interest in making catchweight or bantamweight for further fights under the UFC name.
“[The UFC] wants eight fights in my contract,” said Santos on The MMA Hour. “I don’t want eight fights at 135 pounds. I don’t see anything after Ronda. I think it’s better for me to do Invicta. Now I want only to think about my next fight.”
The UFC only consist of a women’s bantamweight division and Santos has been a featherweight her entire career. She opted not to make the drop in weight and asked for her release. She was granted it and quickly signed with Invicta FC.
Her first appearance for them is against Ediane Gomes and it will be Santos’ return after a one year suspension for steroids.
That happens at Invicta FC 5 on April 5 from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO.
