Former Sengoku featherweight champion and self-proclaimed best bantamweight in Japan, Masanori Kanehara thinks his recent run could land him a spot on the UFC’s roster.
“I cannot wait to fight top dogs in the UFC,” said Kanehara to MMA Weekly. “I know I am up there with these guys so please keep eyes on me and look forward to seeing me in the Octagon soon.”
Kanehara is 21-10-5 and has four straight wins since the fall of 2011. He stopped each of those fights, with the last three happening in round one.
The recent success could be attributed to his 10 pound drop to 135 and a new fighting style according to Kanehara.
Kanehara has competed mostly in Japan since 2003 and is ready for internal level fights. He currently doesn’t have a fight scheduled.
