Anderson Silva Appears Willing To Move To 170 For GSP Fight

UFC president Dana White informed members of the media over the weekend that UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva can make welterweight if given a super-fight with Georges St-Pierre, the current UFC 170-pound champion.

GSP has a bout set for March vs. Nick Diaz at UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz, while Silva has not been given his next opponent – though it is believed to be Chris Weidman later this year.

“Anderson would go to (170), too,” White said. “Yeah, he said he’d do it. He says he can make (170) easy. It’s insane.”

Silva (33-4) was pushing hard for a match with St-Pierre late last year after defeating Stephan Bonnar at a light heavyweight match. However, GSP returned, defeated Carlos Condit, and asked for the Diaz match first.
