UFC, Invicta FC Had Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos Deal Worked Out

UFC president Dana White had a plan in motion for Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos since she was not willing to drop down to bantamweight. He had spoken with Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp and the two agreed to a joint deal, which would keep Santos under contract to the UFC and allow her to fight for the rapidly growing FMMA promotion as a featherweight.

Ultimately, Santos decided to leave her UFC contract and sign a new one with Invicta FC. The whole ordeal left White scratching his head.

“It would be under a UFC contract with all the perks and benefits of being a UFC fighter and would fight in Invicta,” said White at the UFC on FUEL TV post-fight media scrum. “So instead of doing that they chose to not do that and fight in Invicta. If you can make logic out of that whole f—king situation, you’re a better man than I am.”

Santos now meets fellow featherweight Ediane Gomez at Invicta FC 5.

That show comes from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO on April 5. Streaming information has not been provided.
