The first fight on the card sees flyweights Phil Harris vs. Ulysses Gomez.

Round 1: Gomez starting with some kicks on the inside of the leg. One of the shots hit Harris in the groin as we pause. Referee warns Gomez. Harris catches a kick and gets a takedown. Harris jumps on top, but they get up as they trade in the center. Harris almost catches the leg for the second time. Harris gains some momentum in the end with some shots to the head. Gomez doesn’t get a takedown as the round ends.

Round 2: Gomez going back to the leg shots. They trade a few times with neither gaining the advantage. Harris starting to throw more left hands that connects as he seems to have found his groove. Harris taunts him by throwing his hands up in front of Gomez. Harris with some big shots as Gomez goes for a takedown. Harris blocks it. Flying knee by Gomez with 30 seconds to go. He goes for another with about 10 seconds as the round ends.

Round 3: They touch gloves for the first time. Gomez has a small cut under his eye while trading punches. Gomez misses with what is his third flying knee. Harris catches a leg on an exchange, but lets it go. More kicks by Gomez and punches to the head by Harris. Gomez slips and Harris chooses to let him up. Final 10 seconds see Harris with a small furry. They hug as the bell sounds to end the fight.

Bantamweight action is next with Vaughan Lee vs. Motonobu Tezuka.

Round 1: They touch gloves as the round starts. Inside leg kick by Lee. Tezuka pushes Lee against the cage. Lee is able to connect with a knee while against the cage. Back in the center and Lee with a combination. Tezuka is trying for a takedown, but doesn’t get it. Back in the center and Lee blocks another takedown from Tezuka.

Round 2: The two are on the ground early and Tezuka with a half guard. Lee has trouble getting out and Tezuka is looking for the knee. Lee gets out, but Tezuka has the arm still on the ground. Tezuka keeps this against the cage for about a minute. They’re in the center and Lee just misses a huge high kick. Tezuka looks tired and tries to press this against the cage as the round ends.

Round 3: Nice jab from Lee as Tezuka looks slow. Tezuka puts him against the cage as Lee connects with a knee. They break as Lee had head control. Tezuka goes for another single leg takedown. At this point, Tezuka is just resting on Lee against the cage. Lee connects with minor shots. The referee breaks them with 90 seconds. This one spends the last few minutes against the cage. They hug.

Vaughan Lee def. Motonobu Tezuka via unanimous decision

Middleweights make their first appearance with Tom Watson vs. Stanislav Nedkov.

Round 1: Watson with some big shots and big leg kicks to match from Nedkov. Watson puts this against the cage and goes for some knees to the gut. Nedkov able to punch away for a second. Watson with several sort elbows that are doing damage. Watson continues with knees to head. Back in the center and Nedkov misses a huge uppercut. Nedkov with a takedown and continues to swing with 20 seconds to go and almost has the finish as the bell sounds.

Round 2: Nedkov puts this one down early and lands some huge shots again. Nedkov has the legs as Watson stands. Knees by Watson and punches by Nedkov. This one is against the cage with Nedkov on the outside. Watson turns it around and the two swing. Nedkov looks to have a cut around his right eye. Watson with big punches and knees to the head that are doing damage and the crowd loves it. Less than a minute and Nedkov is down and a few more shots by Watson before the referee ends this one.

Next up are the featherweights with Andy Ogle vs. Josh Grispi.

Round 1: This one goes to the ground quickly and Grispi is in trouble as he’s pinned against the cage. Grispi has a triangle choke and Ogle lands a slam, but he’s not out of the submission. Ogle lands some elbows, but they’re not doing damage. Now some better strikes by Ogle as the submission is finally released. Round ends against the cage.

Round 2: They exchange leg kicks to start the round. As it goes to the ground, Ogle is looking for a submission and has the back. Olge with shots to the head as he looks to secure the back better. He instead goes for the half guard. Grispi is standing with Olge on his back as the round ends.

Round 3: Grispi takes a liver-kick that sends him to the ground. Olge lands some shots, including big knees towards the end of the round to the midsection. Grispi tries to stand with a minute left and does. Olge quickly takes him back down, goes for half guard and that’s how this one ends.

Andy Ogle def. Josh Grispi via unanimous decision

Here we go with the lightweights in Paul Sass vs. Danny Castillo.

Round 1: Right away Sass jumps on the shoulders of Castillo and looks for a submission. Castillo hits a huge slam. With that, Sass looked for a submission while they’re on the ground. Sass gets a leg lock, but Castillo gets out. Sass has another leg lock and Castillo rolls out. He jumps on top of Sass with some shots. Castillo with big elbows as the round ends.

Round 2: Castillo is in half guard early in this one. Sass almost gets an arm lock after about a minute. The referee stands them up after not seeing enough work. As soon as that happens, Castillo puts this on the ground again. Sass’ face is starting to swell from the shots and this round ends with several rights from Castillo.

Round 3: They touch gloves. Spinning kick by Sass followed by a right hand from Castillo. On the ground, Castillo has the guard and continues to level in more offense. Sass gets a triangle from the wrist and Castillo is out before it gets locked in. Sass tries repeatedly to get back to his feet and can’t as they hug when the rounds ends.

Danny Castillo def. Paul Sass via unanimous decision

The final preliminary fight is another lightweight bout with Terry Etim vs. Renee Forte.

Round 1: Forte out early with a superman punch. Etmin uses his height to land some shots to the head. Forte just misses a front kick and follows with punches that bring this one against the cage. They break after about a minute. Forte swings and misses some big shots. The round ends standing against the cage.

Round 2: Forte is trying to throw Etmin to the ground, but the cage is preventing that. They separate and several shots to the head of Etmin. With over two minutes left and Etmin is on the ground as Forte is on top in half guard. The pace slows dramatically as forte connects with mostly elbows. With 10 seconds left, Etmin survives after some big blows to end the round.

Round 3: More head and body shots by Forte. He nails a superman punch and this one now goes against the cage. Forte puts it on the ground with two minutes to go and tries to end this one with punches to the head. The fighters never get back to their feet as Etmin is unable to get up and is mostly playing defense.

Renee Forte def. Terry Etim via unanimous decision


The main card on FUEL TV starts with welterweights Che Mills vs. Matthew Riddle.

Round 1: They touch gloves. Riddle goes for a takedown and lets it go against the cage. Mills trying to chop out, but Riddle finally gets the takedown. Mills stands right back up. They’re back in the center and trade small exchanges. Riddle connects with a nice right hand. Riddle puts Mills on his back as the round ends.

Round 2: A few kicks traded before Riddle looks for a takedown. As Riddle goes for the takedown, Mills hits a spinning back kick. Riddle is on top and looks to be fine after that kick. Lots of small shots by Riddle while they’re on the ground. Riddle in the mount position and has the back on the ground. He looks for the choke with about 30 seconds left. He doesn’t get it as the round ends.

Round 3: A hug as the round starts. Mills is laying in some offense early in the opening round. Riddle gets the leg, but doesn’t have the takedown against the cage. Riddle has a body lock and puts it on the ground again. He lands some body and head shots. He almost gets a submission in as the fight concludes.

Matthew Riddle def. Che Mills via split-decision

The first light heavyweight fight is next with James Te-Huna vs. Ryan Jimmo.

Round 1: Early under hooks by Te-Huna. After a minute of being on the cage, the referee puts them back in the center. Jimmo with a kick that puts Te-Huna on the ground and hits several shots, including another major blow. Te-Huna is cut near the eye. Jimmo has the head on the ground, but Te-Huna gains control. Jimmo trying to get out with elbows to the head as the round ends.

Round 2: Te-Huna looking for the takedown with double under hooks. He gets it after about a minute and is in side control. Several straight punches and big elbows by Te-Huna with a minute. Jimmo spends the remainder of the round attempting to get up, but Te-Huna keeps pushing him back on the mat.

Round 3: They’re pretty even halfway through this one and the pace has slowed. Twice the referee warned them to start working as little was happening. Te-Huna is on top as they go to the ground. Jimmo is trying to use the cage to get back on his feet. Te-Huna lands more offense of the two this round.

James Te-Huna def. Ryan Jimmo via unanimous decision

Another welterweight match with Gunnar Nelson vs. Jorge Santiago is onboard.

Round 1: Santiago charges early. Big right hand by Santiago, followed by a knee. Nelson looks for a high kick. With Santiago on the ground, Nelson tries to grab him but gives up as they’re both to their feet. Kick to the body by Nelson and he charges with 10 seconds left.

Round 2: A knee by Nelson who brings this to the ground. Some shots to the head by Nelson. While Santiago remains on the ground, Nelson stands to connect with a few shots. Nelson is now on top of Santiago and looks for two big elbows that do connect. That’s where the round ends.

Round 3: Nelson with some kicks to the stomach. He gets a sneaky right hand in. Santiago attempts to tee off on Nelson against the cage, but nothing hits. Nelson with an uppercut and Santiago looks wobbly. Nelson charges with 90 seconds to go. Santiago can barely stand and another uppercut by Nelson. Santiago looks tired, but remains on his feet. Santiago swings widely and connects with a huge right hand as the bell sounds.

Gunnar Nelson def. Jorge Santiago via unanimous decision

The second time light heavyweights appear with Jimi Manuwa vs. Cyrille Diabaté.

Round 1: Manuwa gets the takedown early. He’s working on a left under hook and brings it to the ground against the cage. The two stand and break. Big high kick by Manuwa. Diabaté gets a few knees to the gut. Manuwa lands several right hooks. So far, Manuwa is pushing the pace and puts this one to the ground as the round ends.

In between rounds, Diabaté can’t put weight on his foot as the doctor comes in. He waives the fight off.

Jimi Manuwa def. Cyrille Diabaté via TKO (doctor stoppage) at the conclusion of round 1

The co-main event has featherweights Cub Swanson vs. Dustin Poirier.

Round 1: Early rights and lefts followed with a midsection kick by Swanson. Poirier responds with his own combination. High kick by Swanson as Poirier looks to take this to the ground. He’s unable and this one goes against the cage standing. Swanson with another high kick and Poirier is able to get on top with a minute to go. They trade blows as the round ends.

Round 2: Swanson eats some shots early. Flying knee by Swanson. They trade blows in the center of the Octagon for about a minute before Poirier looks for a takedown against the cage. Swanson blocks it and they’re back in the center. Big right kick and right hand by Swanson. Poirier lands a double leg to take this to the canvas. Swanson stands as Poirier holds the leg relentlessly. Poirier goes for another takedown, but doesn’t get it.

Round 3: Poirier has a nice combination with Swanson against the cage. He lands several shots as Swanson covers up. Swanson is able to get out of the corner. Swanson gets a takedown with three minutes to go. He gets the back and locks his feet around Poirier. Poirier tries to stand on a few occasions, but losses his balance and Swanson is in the mount. They stand and Swanson with a leg and body shot before looking for the arm. Poirier gets out as the round ends.

Cub Swanson def. Dustin Poirier via unanimous decision

The main event is up with interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao vs. Michael McDonald.

Round 1: They dance around each other the first minute before Barao is able to get a takedown and gets into guard. McDonald has both hands and they stand. They trade some shots to the head. McDonald charges in and Barao is on the ground. As they stand against the cage, Barao with a knee to the head. The bell sounds with them on the ground.

Round 2: The two are being careful this round. They collide and appear to hit heads on accident. Barao goes for the takedown, but it doesn’t stick. Barao looks for a combo, but swings wildly and misses. In doing so, Barao gets the eye of McDonald as the fight is paused for just a moment. Big front kick by Barao and the next one McDonald is able to swat away. Barao is cut above his eye.

Round 3: McDonald charges and lands some shots as they go against the cage before they’re back in the center. Barao gets a combo that puts McDonald against the cage. He puts him on the ground and Barao has side control. McDonald gets up. Barao gets a spinning back kick that sends McDonald towards the cage. 30 more seconds and the round ends.

Round 4: McDonald stops a takedown from Barao. Blood coming out of McDonald’s nose now. They have an even trade in the center of the Octagon that goes against the cage. Another spin kick from Barao who eventually throws McDonald to the ground. Barao is able to lock in a arm-triangle choke. McDonald gives thumbs up, but after about 30 seconds taps out.

Renan Barao def. Michael McDonald via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 3:57 of round 4
