Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos Granted UFC Release, Headed To Invicta FC

Former Strikeforce featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos has been granted her UFC release and returns to action for Invicta FC. Her manager, Tito Ortiz, confirmed the announcement from his training center.

The UFC wanted Santos to drop to bantamweight and she said medically it was not safe. She opted for a catchweight bout, but the UFC didn’t budge. For months, Santos has been in a verbal war with the current UFC champion Ronda Rousey.

She debuts at Invicta FC 5 against Ediene Gomes, replacing Julia Budd. Currently, Budd has no new opponent.

Invicta FC 5 takes place April 5 from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO. Streaming information has not been provided.
