Leandro Higo’s hope of getting a chance in the UFC was squashed when Pedro Nobre beat him to it. Yuri Alcantara needed an opponent on short notice and Nobre got his request in first, according to Higo’s manager Matheus Aquino.
“I had sent [UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby an email talking about Leandro,” said Aquin to MMA Junkie. “The next day, Shelby asked for someone to replace George Roop. Later that night, Shelby let us know that the slot had been filled.”
The Pedro Nobre-Alcantara fight from UFC of FX went to a contest. The replays showed that Alcantara’s shots were clean and not to the back of the head as the referee suggested. UFC president Dana White released Nobre shortly after calling his acting “Oscar worthy.”
Higo is now 12-2 after taking three in a row and holds mostly submission stoppages.
