What we learned in last night’s installment of UFC Primetime: “Rousey vs. Carmouche” is that Ronda Rousey eats one meal a day, but has a nutritionist to help her maintain her weight. Meanwhile, her UFC 157 opponent Liz Carmouche is so broke that she doesn’t even have a kitchen table, and her and her girlfriend eat on the living room floor. I’ll admit that I never watch these UFC Primetime shows – what are they going to tell me that truly enhances my enjoyment of the fight they’re hyping? But these ones pertaining to the historic fight between Rousey and Carmouche are enthralling. Definitely check them out. Here’s your news:
• The aforementioned episode of UFC Primetime: “Rousey vs. Carmouche” can be found here. Watch, and get to know the ladies headlining UFC 157 next weekend that much more.
• I dig Franklin McNeil and respect his work with ESPN, but every once in a while a journalist writes a headline worthy of snark, and today is McNeil’s turn. Ready? “Liz Carmouche Intends to Put Up a Fight”. Really, buddy? She does? That’s cool, considering that’s her job and all.
• Bellator bantamweight top dog Eduardo Dantas successfully defended his belt last night, using a surgical uppercut to utterly starch Marcos Galvao. It was a beautiful technique, and afterwards Dantas cried liberally. It was good TV. Here’s FightLine’s Miguel Barragan with the play-by-play.
• Hey, don’t forget there’s a UFC tomorrow. Interim bantamweight title holder Renan Barao gets a chance at defending his belt against Michael McDonald.
