During a recent interview with ESPN, former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir made some choice remarks concerning the level of competition that Daniel Cormier faced while fighting for Strikeforce. The two will meet in April at UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Melendez.
Mir was quoted as saying, “Level of competition is important. He’s done most of his damage in Strikeforce. Not to downplay Strikeforce, but it’s not the UFC.”
Well, the former Olympian responded via Twitter to what Mir had to say, stating, “Level of competition (Mir), you do realize I beat the guy fighting for the UFC title next right. Research buddy! I can’t wait till 4/20.”
Cormier was referencing his Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix victory over Antonio Silva, who will face UFC champion Cain Velasquez later this year at UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Silva II.
“DC” also made sure to let another former Strikeforce heavyweight, Josh Barnett, know what Mir said.
“Hey (Barnett) message from (your) friendly neighborhood Olympian. I think (Mir) says that we aren’t very good. Just a heads up;)” Cormier wrote.
