Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will compete in his native country next, as MMAFighting.com is reporting Souza will battle Costa Philippou at UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Rockhold.
The card takes place May 18 from the Arena Jaragua in Santa Catarina, Brazil. Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold are scheduled for the main event.
Souza (17-3) earned his third straight victory last month, topping UFC fighter Ed Herman inside the Strikeforce cage. He recently stated on his Twitter account that he would have “news about my first bout in the UFC (very soon). I’m so excited and motivated to tell it to everyone.”
Philippou (12-2) is on a five-fight win streak that includes a TKO over contender Tim Boetsch in December.
