It appears as if we may not have seen the last of former UFC champion BJ Penn. “The Prodigy” underwent successful surgery to fix a cataract in his eye on Wednesday, and appears ready to train once again.
“Cataract surgery wasn’t fun but it was painless,” Penn posted on his Facebook page. “Already the glare is gone and my depth perception is improving, can’t wait to get Hawaii nei.”
In his last fight, Penn was defeated by Rory MacDonald. The 34-year-old is winless since a 2010 knockout victory over Matt Hughes, but he seems confident of another fight inside the Octagon – and hinted at a possible return to lightweight.
“I gotta spar and check my depth perception,” Penn said. “(Lightweights) will eat me up with their speed if I don’t judge the distance right. No weight class is easier.”
