Former UFC heavyweight title contender Pedro Rizzo sees Glover Teixeira having a bright future. With one more win under his name, Rizzo believes Teixeira can find himself in the light heavyweight championship picture.
“I think he makes one more fight and then gets the title shot,” said Rizzo to TATAME. “There is nowhere else to go. [Jon] Jones is cleaning the category.”
Teixeira is coming off his third UFC win, which brings his current streak to 18. Teixeira took a decision over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC on FOX last month. Only three of Teixeira’s 20 wins have gone to the judges’ scorecard.
Jones has been champion since 2011 and has four defenses, all against former titleholders. Jones puts his gold up for grabs at UFC 159 when he meets Chael Sonnen on April 27. Teixeira’s return is not known.
Rizzo has gone 5-5 since the UFC released him in 2003.
