Douglas Lima won the Bellator welterweight tournament once, but was unable to take the championship from Ben Askren. Now that he’s back in a tournament, Lima hopes to get the chance to avenge that loss.
“I learned a lot from that defeat and I’m itching to fight him again,” said Lima to TATAME. “I’m improving my wrestling and want to show it. I’ve got two tough fights ahead.”
It was at Bellator 64 in April when Askren took a decision to keep his perfect record and the gold intact.
Late last month, Lima defeated Michail Tsarev with a second round TKO to advance to the semifinals. His next stop will be against Bryan Baker. For Baker, he submitted Karl Amoussou in under a minute to make it to the next stage in the tournament.
Those two fight at Bellator 90 from the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, UT on February 21.
