As more fighters make the move to featherweight, Georgi Karakhanyan is one of the top priorities currently unsigned. That could all change as Karakhanyan plans to speak with UFC matchmakers Joe Silva and Sean Shelby when the promotion returns to England this weekend.
“I’m going there hopefully to see if we can talk,” said Karakhanyan on MMA Junkie Radio. “But I’ve got some other offers from other organizations. I’m just hoping 2013 is going to be a great year.”
Karakhanyan is 20-3 and is currently on a six fight win streak. Before his recent run, Karakhanyan competed in Bellator. He failed to win the Season 2 and Season 4 tournaments. Both losses came to the eventual winner. His last fight was a win over DREAM featherweight champion Hiroyuki Takaya on the December 31 show.
Even with the possibility of signing a contract as early as this weekend, Karakhanyan is no rush to sign the first offer that comes his way.
