The ongoing verbal dispute between UFC president Dana White and Randy Couture is nothing Ryan Couture didn’t see coming. The younger Couture knew that the time his father left the UFC, it would leave a lasting impression.
“It’s nothing to do with me really,” said Couture to Bleacher Report. “Given the history it’s not horribly surprising. Dad’s been on and off the s— list, and been on both good and bad terms with Dana [White] and the UFC for varying times. I guess it shouldn’t come as a total shock given past experience.”
By early January, Ryan knew something was up as he was preparing for his final Strikeforce fight. His father told him things could get interesting and was unable give more information. Ryan believes he was under a non-disclosure agreement about signing with Spike TV.
Randy coaches on the debut season of Fight Masters: Bellator MMA. Ryan makes his first UFC presence against Ross Pearson on April 6. That happens at UFC on FUEL TV in Sweden.
