After the NBC Sports Network aired the first World Series of Fighting (WSOF), the TV executives knew that they had something special. After getting picked up for a three year TV deal, WSOF president Ray Sefo knows that the months ahead will be long, but he’s ready to introduce a new promotion to the MMA world.
“The team and I are very excited,” said Sefo on MMA Interviews. “It’s a great network for our guys to showcase their talent and skills. We were happy and the NBC Sports Network was happy. It was more than we expected. There’s lots to learn and minor things to tighten up on, but that’s part of what we do.”
The first WSOF show was on November 3 as a onetime deal with the TV station. The main event saw former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski defeat Devin Cole in the first round.
WSOF 2 has been announced for March 23 from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Arlovski returns in the main event to meet another former UFC veteran in Anthony Johnson.
