Benson Henderson isn’t afraid of fighters who use PEDs, as he knows they need it to stay mentally strong. Without the use of PEDs, it leaves those fighters with doubt in their mind according to Henderson.
“If I know someone is mentally weak enough to take steroids, ‘Oh, I need the extra edge, I need to do this,’ and they know it’s illegal, they know it’s wrong and they do it,” said Henderson on a recent UFC Fight Club Q&A.
Henderson said his time as a college wrestler was when he first saw the use and dangers of PEDs.
“If you’re so mentally weak that you have to take steroids, I will destroy you cause you are mentally weak,” said Henderson.
Currently, Henderson sits on six straight UFC wins. While earning those wins, he secured the lightweight championship and has two title defenses this year with the first being against Frankie Edgar and the other Nate Diaz. All of his UFC appearances have gone to a decision.
At UFC on FOX 7, Henderson meet Diaz’s teammate and the final Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez. They headline the April 20 card from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
