Frank Mir has been labeled by some as the best submission fighter in the UFC’s heavyweight division. When it comes to jiu-jitsu, Mir titled Fabricio Werdum as the best when it pertains to the heavyweights.
“As far as jiu-jitsu artist, I think Werdum is probably the best jiu-jitsu artist in the heavyweight division,” said Mir to Fight Hub TV.
After a pair of wins last year, Werdum now meets Antônio “Minotauro” Nogueira in June. Nogueira took one win last year after coming back from a serious injury. Mir needed to break Nogueira’s arm at UFC 140 before the Brazilian would tap out. That kimura was awarded Submission of the Year.
When Werdum and Nogueira fight, Mir didn’t give a direct answer on who takes the win but gave a strong hint.
“I think it’s going to be a difficult fight for Nogueira,” said Mir.
