As Marlon Sandro prepares to enter his third Bellator tournament, he has no worries as he looks to become the No. 1 contender to the featherweight championship, after nearly winning it in his two previous attempts.
“I’m very calm, with no obligation in my head,” said Sandro to TATAME. “At first I wanted to prove a lot. I’m not even thinking about the tournament.”
Sandro made it to the finals of 2011 Summer Series before suffering a KO loss to Pat Curran. He returned in the next tournament and made it to the finals again. This time he took a decision loss to Daniel Straus.
Sandro meets Akop Stepanyan in the quarterfinals of the upcoming season. Stepanyan didn’t get past the opening round in his only other tournament opportunity.
They meet on the main card of Bellator 88 from Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA. It takes place today, February 7, and Spike TV airs the man card with a start time of 10 p.m. ET.
